Epic Virtual Internship Program courses are a unique option available to juniors and seniors looking to enhance their resume and earn Next Step credit. Depending on the course, students will either prepare to take an industry backed certification exam or develop 21st century skills while honing professional preparedness.
Students earn elective credit towards high school graduation when they engage in one of these courses, meet routinely for zoom class and complete all the required assignments.
Virtual Internship Certification Track
Juniors and seniors will earn 1.0 Next Step elective credit and will sit for 1 of the 18 industry certification exams currently available. Certification track students develop 21st century skills while completing exam preparation.
*Students may take this course up to four times. Once per semester in grades 11 & 12 as long as they pursue a new certification each time.

Accelerated Virtual Internship Track
Juniors and seniors will earn 0.5 Next Step elective credit. In the accelerated eight (8) Virtual Internship students prepare for their post graduation path by developing 21st century skills and honing professional preparedness.
*Students may take this course twice. Once per academic year in grades 11 & 12 during alternating semesters. For Example: If a student completes the course in the spring of their junior year, they are eligible to take the course again in the fall of their senior year.
Course Requirements
Certification Track
Students are eligible to have 1 section of Epic Virtual Internship - Certification on their schedule per semester. During the Internship - Certification the student will:
Meet as assigned and participate in all discussions
Complete all assigned certification preparation material
Develop, complete and present a Capstone project (to include the attainment of a minimum of 1 career-related skill)
Complete the certification exam
The Facilitator will contact the student to assist them in selecting a meeting time.

Students are eligible to have 1 section of Accelerated Virtual Internship on their schedule per academic year. During the Accelerated Virtual Internship the student will:
Meet every week and participate in all activities including guided lessons and discussions
Complete all weekly assignments
Complete a final exam
Develop, complete and present a Capstone project based on the semester's focus.
The Facilitator will contact the student to assist them in selecting a meeting time.

In preparation for the course, students should consider which certification they would like to pursue. Commitment to the specific certification with take place once classes begin.

Program Attendance and Drop Policy
Certification Track: Student attendance in class is required. Teachers will be notified when a student misses class. Students who have missed three weeks in a row and have only completed two assignments will be automatically dropped from the course. There will be a lot of communication attempts before a drop is initiated.
Accelerated Virtual Internship Track: Student attendance in class is required. Teachers will be notified when a student misses class.
