Alternative Internship

Students who are designated OAAP qualify to participate in an alternative internship. Alternative internship plans must be approved by the student's SPED Compliance Specialist. The requirements for the course may not be modified. Hours, Soft Skills, and all other assignments will still be required in the Schoology classroom. However, the type of internship may look different than a traditional internship to meet the needs of the individual student. The 60 hours can be fulfilled by tracking the hours spent on the completion of the skills listed on the alternative internship form. 

Teachers may contact their SPED Compliance Specialist or Anita Manuel at anita.manuel@epiccharterschools.org for guidance in creating an alternative internship. 

1. Teachers: Submit a Fresh Service Request to the student's GSS to add the alternative internship course to the schedule. 

2. Teachers: Complete the alternative internship form by making a copy from this link and following the video instructions in the video on EpicOne. You may use the Alternative Internship Ideas below or create your own opportunity for the student.

3. Teachers: Send the completed alternative internship form to your Compliance Specialist via email for approval. The Compliance Specialist will reply with approval (or needed updates) via email. Once approved please add to Document LOK.
