After a few clicks up the trail, we found the creek bank where there was an outcrop of slate/shale. There were lots of areas to dig and look for fossils.
It did not take long to find a productive layer and unearth good looking trilobites and other fossils.
It would have been good to have a stick of dynamite to blow off the overburden, but there was enough to pull out of the bank to find some good specimens.
This was a fun site with plenty of material. My only worry about doing this without masking-up is the potential for breathing in some sort of ancient mold or bacteria. I got a terrible fever a day after being at this site!
