Research in the field of metabolic systems biology requires an apparatus to mimic the physiological conditions necessary for cell growth, but such devices are often costly with laborious methods of metabolite extraction. Our novel miniaturized perfusion bioreactor utilizes cost effective parts and microfluidic PDMS chambers to facilitate multi-trial experimentation with accessible sample extraction. Through an iterative design process, we achieved uniform flow distribution and a leak-free system. To conclude, we designed and fabricated an affordable, high throughput perfusion bioreactor that maintains accuracy at low flow rates of 64.6 + 3.0 μL/min.
