Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
The physical model is 80-90% completed.
Product quality tests have been conducted on the heat staking machine.
Data logging the newly redesigned horn plate has also commenced.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Generated working manufacturing machine and functioning code.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Conduct additional tests on machine and troubleshoot errors until 50-70% of manufactured units is of acceptable quality (all members).
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
A Zoom meeting was held on 6/5/2020 with various members of our sponsor company, Capillary Biomedical. The participants included the VP of Operations at Capillary Biomedical, Dave Gillet and three engineers, Kevin Kunicki, Miami, and Amrith. The comments were:
Vigorously log temperature data and conduct as many analyses as possible to document the final design.
Consider using linear actuator with position feedback or implement sensors for position feedback.
Using a new PID controller for the temperature that can relay information to the Arduino would also be a good design idea.
Project can be continued with Capillary Biomedical over the summer in Irvine.

Risks and Areas of Concern
Based on tests we have conducted on our device, the linear actuator rotates as it hits the nest and again when it returns to its home position. This causes misalignment of the horns with the energy guides on the polypropylene disks. We have ideated various methods to fix this issue including the implementation of locating pins, rails, and guide rods but none of these ideas are capable of being implemented within the short amount of time we have left in this project.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
