Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
The CAD files for most of the parts have been given to us by the sponsor. Therefore, we are able to CNC more brass stamps (component attached to the heat stake).
We have talked with Tom and Ian about the availability of brass stock and the feasibility of using the CNC to make the brass stamp. (brass stock available and CNC should have enough precision for our brass stamp)
Received Project space on 3/10/20 through Ian.
Risk reduction analysis team meeting was held on 3/10/20. We brainstormed what the highest risk process was and how to address it. Settled on the alignment of plastic guides and adhesive patches.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Assigned Individual components to each person for analysis. (Viewable in the Gantt chart)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Have a thorough understanding of the assigned individual components, and the designs for those components, that can be shared with all members.
Finish the risk reduction tests and presentation by Sunday the 15th to ensure the completion of the assignment (i.e. members might become unavailable due to finals during the weekdays).
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
The last meeting was held on 3/1/20.
Comments:
Safety measures for machine operators are the top priority.
Product quality is the second priority and is extremely critical in terms of patient well being.
Automation of the entire system is desired but not necessary.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
The last meeting involved Jerry, one of our instructors, and was held on 3/5/20.
The comments were:
Which part will be the focus of the risk reduction?
Find a project space by contacting Ian since we need a place to put the parts we acquired from our sponsor.
Addressing Comments:
The alignment of the plastic guides and the adhesive patches is our focus for the risk reduction.
We were provided a project space in EBU II room 338 on 3/10/20.
Risks and Areas of Concern
Creating a feed system for our plastic guides. The area of concern is with the amount of precision needed for the feed system.
Along with the amount of precision, the plastic guides have to be fed from the sides as the top is blocked by the adhesive patch line and the bottom is a stage.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
None.
Schedule
Gantt chart updated to reflect progress (viewable under project management, Gantt chart). Updated 3/11/20.
Budget
Remaining:
Equipment and parts: $2000
Machine shop expenses: $1500
Spent:
Equipment and parts: $0
Machine shop expenses: $0
Progress on Report and Webpage
The webpage is up to date for the home, team, and internal sections. We don't have the required information to fill all the other sections.
The report section of the webpage only has some of the parts that are currently being used for our project. There are currently no CAD components, Budget transactions, programs/code.
