Team 14 Progress Report
Winter 21 - Week 10
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Designs have been finalized
Both devices have gone through final testing phases
Locked in and being prepared for final design review with sponsor
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Stress
Final form factor has been assembled
Completed final testing of rubber bands w/ grid line rig (John)
Able to generate stress-strain curves for sutured and served rubber bands
Completed code for LCD integration (Ryan)
Code also now gives decimal values instead of only integers
Strain
Final experimental setup completed
Recorded new videos of O-ring testing using phone mount (Archana)
Circular surface markers used for strong contrast and clear detection
Analyzed new videos in Matlab and successfully extracted strain values in terms of pixels (Tejas)
Overall
Completed final design review with Sameer
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Stress (John and Ryan)
Complete LCD circuit integration
Run proof of concept with handheld version
(integrate LCD into form factor, use battery pack, get values without being plugged into computer)
Strain (Archana and Tejas)
Update CAD model with explanation of key dimensions
Relate ruler markers to strain values using digital calipers (possibly ImageJ)
Start thinking about potential sources of errors that can be included in final presentation/report (e.g. torsion in the O-ring causes radius of marker to change)
Overall
Complete final report
Complete IP disclosure
Finalize webpage
Prepare senior day presentation
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Sponsor Meeting held on Tuesday, March 9 (over Zoom)
Conducted final design review and went through final logistics with sponsor
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Asked about changes to strain setup
Explained new O-ring and paint markers setup, proved to be more successful in terms of DIC tracking
Asked about success of FSR calibration
FSR calibrated to every 0.5N, but not recommended to move forward with FSR, will add piezoelectric sensor to design recommendations
Advised to finish strong with the report and webpage, had two reviews at this point
Will make you proud, thanks for everything Professor T and Darren <3
