Team 14 Progress Report

Winter 21 - Week 1

Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.

• (Based off of Gantt Chart) Tail end of brainstorming phase, entering Design Phase

  • On track to purchase components for first circuit at end of week

Accomplishments from Previous Week

• Created clearer, more updated Gantt chart (collab of team, made by John)

• Finished research for buckle transducers and flexible material sensors (all team members)

• Finished feasibility methods of analysis, pros and cons chart created and used it to decide on methods to go with (chart made by Archana, analysis by all team members)

• Began conceptual design of circuit (all members, spearheaded by Ryan)

• Split team into two to focus on methods for both stress and strain (stress - John and Ryan, strain - Archana and Tejas)

• Choose sensors to purchase for circuit (force transducers - John and Ryan, camera for strain - Archana and Tejas)

• Conduct inventory of circuit components, possibly order missing parts (all team members)

• Meet with Sameer, go over current plan to see if it lines up with expectations, place order for parts (all team members, purchasing by Archana)

• Last meeting with sponsor was Fall Quarter during Finals Week (over zoom):

  • Conducted review of risk reduction presentation, Sameer made comments over presentation for changes, ensured that presentation represented the project correctly → team made proper adjustments

  • Assigned us to look into buckle transducers and flexible sticker material sensors as potential methods of data acquisition → research and analysis conducted, to be presented to sponsor next meeting

  • Also assigned us to decide feasibility of methods of data acquisition, preliminarily decide on methods to pursue → team has decided on strain and stress methods, to be consulted with sponsor

• In person, instructor meeting before finals week as well as comments from risk reduction presentation:

  • Project currently very broad, must narrow down the scope of project → scope narrowed, tied into process of project → team will first focus on getting accurate readings on testing apparatus (tissue substitutes), and translate the results into deciding on target tissue/muscle group
