Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
The aluminum framework and four low speed cameras have been mounted.
Images can now be acquired from four low speed cameras.
We will be ready to mount the high speed camera and galvo system once the clamp arrive.
The postdocs in the lab assisted us on low speed cameras calibration and video streaming. We are now able to get 3D positions of the object based on their positions in the images/videos.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Hardware: Cut two t-slots of 42 inch; Mounted t-slots on the top of the frame and installed the breadboard, rail and mounts for high-speed camera on the t-slots; Adjusted the position of the breadboard.
Software: Calibration of the four low speed cameras and triangulation of images.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Install the high speed camera and galvo.(Mingcong and Zizhao)
Adjust the position and initial angles for galvo system. (Mingcong and Zizhao)
Make the calibration/image delivery code compatible with the triangulation code
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Galvo is almost the most important part in the project, so at least one member should be really familiar with galvo system. (01/21/2020, in person)
Mingcong and Zizhao should finish framework for high speed camera by next meeting. (01/21/2020, in person)
Keren should finish the triangulation part and transfer all code from Windows to Linux. (01/21/2020, in person)
Manufacturing for hardware should keep industrial standard for accuracy and future convenience. (01/24/2020, in person)
Actions: We finished the installation of framework this week. And for the choice of connection parts, we decided to purchase suitable ones online rather than making custom parts ourselves.
Actions: Code transfer has been done with minimal delay. Triangulation part and code testing have been finished as well.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
No need for additional signal conversion if the galvo contains a close loop control system, otherwise send current signals (rather than voltage) is preferable (01/21/2020, in person)
Weekly progress should summarize what everything done till the due date, make best guess if necessary (01/21/2020, in person)
For report draft, statements of requirements and deliverable should be in list form. Flow chart should be larger. (01/27/2020, email)
Actions regarding comments on project: We confirmed with our sponsors that the galvo contains a close loop control system.
Actions regarding comments on report: We put everything in a chart instead of list. Is list preferred over chart?
Actions regarding comments on report: We made the flow chart larger. Modification may be necessary (depending on other elements) when making a final report.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
None.
Risks and Areas of Concern
No obvious risks for now.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
None.
Schedule
Milestone: Finish all coding around low speed cameras and position computation. Finish hardware adjustment for high speed camera and galvo.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Budget spent last week: $0
(Note: We will order one more rail clamp this week. But this is already included in expected budget before.)
Progress on Report and Webpage
Revised several sections of the report (Background, existing solution, requirements, deliverable) according to the feedback from instructors/TA/sponsors
Add Impact on society and Professional responsibility sections to the report
