Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
The risk reduction rest has been decided on and designed
Have not begun the risk reduction test
The project will be focused on removing the flash on a certain hardness of the golf ball material initially. If this task is successful, the project will be expanded to the other hardness levels that are used by the sponsor.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Decided on a risk reduction test that will determine the optimal drill bit for removing the flash of a 94 shore-a golf ball.
Designed the risk reduction rest
The test will be performed on the mills in the machine shop in EBU-2
Only the time the drill bit is in contact with the golf ball will be varied, Pressure of the drill bit, hardness of the golf ball material, and rpm of the mill will be kept constant.
In order to determine the optimal rpm for the end mill to remove the flash, multiple tests will be performed on block comprised of the material of the golf ball
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Perform a risk reduction test to determine the optimal time and drill bit to remove the flash on the golf ball.
Acquire a microscope or other measurement device to determine how well the drill bits are removing the flash for the risk reduction test.

Risks and Areas of Concern
Will we be able to acquire an appropriate measurement device for the risk reduction test?
Will the mill be adequate for removing flash off the ball for the risk reduction test?
Will the vice be adequete to hold the ball during the risk reduction test or is a ball stand necessary?
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Unable to conveniently use the ball scanner developed by Callaway to determine the precise elimination of the flash
Unable to determine the exact material properties
