Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Design: We had the first draft of the test chamber frame and the gantry system
Fabrication: We have fabricated the gantry system to verify the design. In addition, we have ordered the PVC T-slots, aluminum foils, polycarbonate sheets, and adhesives to manufacture the test chamber frame.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Finished the first version of the test chamber frame design (Han Cui)
Tested the CPU cooler on 12V and studied relay control (Yingqiao Jiang)
Adjust the current rating of the driver to limit motor power and reduce its heat. Consult with Steve about some better motor choices. Searched motors with a lower voltage rating. (Yue Wen)
Worked on the prototype of the gantry system, including preliminary design, 3D printing parts, and purchasing needed materials (Jiahao Fu)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Start fabricating the test chamber frame; Finalize minor details inside the test chamber (e.g., installing the antenna board holder, holes for cables and liquid cooler tube) (Han Cui)
Test the CPU cooler with relay; draw CAD for the cooler (Yingqiao Jiang)
After receiving the motor, test the new motor with the driver and check the heating problem. Modify and improve the prototype design (Yue Wen)
Finalize details of the prototype gantry system, purchase commercial timing belt pulleys and more timing belt, and lasercamm more solid parts (Jiahao Fu)

Polycarbonate sheet would be better if it can reduce weight.
Presented the Core XY guideline for the gantry system
A thin rubber absorber could be used to cover the small metal parts such as stepper motor.
If detailed control is hard to achieve, a 5V relay could be used to turn the cooler on and off.
Measurement Computing would be a good source to look for high-quality relays.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (4/22 in person)
Got approved for using the PVC T-slot.
It could be better to use thinner polycarbonate sheets to reduce weight.
We should talk to Tom about the machining a D shaft to fix the motor
It is not necessary to use all the functions of the cooler. We could use a separate temperature sensor.
After finalizing the circuitry, we could consult with Steve to make a PCB.
