Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
We just received a stepper motor and controllers and are beginning to learn how to control them using Arduino.
We are considering specific different design solutions for the gantry router system.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Decided on a certain type of microwave absorber (Laird ECCOSORB HR-25, http://www.eccosorb.com/Collateral/Documents/English-US/RFP-DS-HR%20092815.pdf).
Meeting with the user of the device and confirmed some technical specifications.
Search on existing Gantry solutions. (3D printer).
Decided on the cooler choice (corsair hydro series H80i v2, https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Liquid-Cooling/Single-Radiator-Liquid-Coolers/Hydro-Series%E2%84%A2-H80i-v2-High-Performance-Liquid-CPU-Cooler/p/CW-9060024-WW).
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Team: Preliminary design of the chamber, including chamber enclosure design
Cui: Draw the CAD for the frame
Wen: Test the motor controller and the program to control the motor
Jiang: Purchase the CPU cooler and test the temperature monitoring software
Jiahao: Continue researching on the power transmission system
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (4/5 and in person)
microwave absorbers are in stock at Digi-key and size fits our needs. The problem remain would be the adhesive that stick the absorber to the inner wall of the a metal sheet which is required for the absorber.
After discussing with the sponsor, the metal sheet, to minimized weight, we decided to use the 1/16 aluminum.
Battery could not be a reliable power source; instead, an AC to DC converter should be used.
For the outer box could be built from simply acrylic because it does not bare too much weight.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (4/3 and in person)
If the microwave absorber would not be available now, we could try to prototype with something that is of the same dimension and organized the testing frame and replace with the actual materials once they arrived.
If some parts are not in stock or hard to find with the resources we have now, we can look them up on Ebay.
Only one motor should be needed for one direction motion.
Could add a simply to check if the antenna is at its home position.
