Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Testing of 3 versions of nebulizer complete. The 1/78th-inch hole version seems the most promising
Design of humidifier nebulizer nearly complete, intend to print this week
Design of new door complete, intend to print this week
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Testing of 3 versions of nebulizer (no hole, 1/32, 1/78)
Ordered and received second solenoid valve
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Print and test humidifier design
Test double-staggered valve approach
Test functionality of new door (keep or discard for final design)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
In person: Sponsor is not so concerned with the actual accuracy of a physical cough - the spray pattern,etc.- more concerned with its carrying properties since it will be used for testing a breathalyzer-like device. More important to get the velocity and droplet size of a cough accurate vs. the turbulent or laminar quality of the flow.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
In person:
Think about the chaotic nature of a cough and the volume capacity of a lung. We took these specifications to the sponsor who reiterated that those are secondary concerns that we do not necessarily need to address this quarter.
Lent the team a high-speed camera, but unfortunately, the resolution was too low to see the droplets. Glucose strips will be used to visualize the droplets and glucose content.

Risks and Areas of Concern
Will the glucose strips be helpful in either determining size, pathogen carrying abilities, velocity, spray pattern, or none of the above
Will the 2nd nebulizer's droplet be evaporated in the humidifying chamber when the air burst occurs?
