Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Tree Stress: Force testing stage
Average forces have been calculated at varying angles in order to determine the range of forces the stress timer may receive
Jet Lag: Prototyping stage
A preliminary design has been crafted and printed to see viability of designs and aesthetic factors.
Statistical tests were conducted to see how people would rate the glasses among other more aesthetic sunglasses.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Tree Stress: Stress Analysis testing can be achieved now that the forces have been calculated
Jet Lag: A cohesive design has been drawn that incorporates the proper specifications for a refined model.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Tree Stress: Manufacture/Machine a working case that can withstand the average forces found from this week's testing.
Jet Lag: Have multiple iterations of the shelled out design so that we can start incorporating the PCB, button, LEDs, and wires into the prototypes
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Tree Stress: sponsor invited us to see the UoW, Madison engineering department but otherwise is content with the rate at which the project is moving along.
Jet Lag: Sponsors wanted steady progress and battery selection and this week has been spent refining the design and making sure this step of the project is done with due diligence to make the rest of the quarter easier.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Wanted more engineering content rather than aesthetic wow factors in our presentations.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Using ABS for our glasses would help us achieve a more polished design after dipping the printed part in an acetone bath.
Risks and Areas of Concern
Risks and Areas of Concern haven't changed: aesthetics for the Jet Lag Glasses and the structural integrity of the case for the Tree Stress timer remain our primary concerns
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Lens illumination data has not been quantified yet
Schedule
Week 5-6: prototyping the first couple of iterations for the glasses
Weeks 5-6: stress and force analysis testing for the tree stress wave timer and initialization of machining/manufacturing process for housing case
