Weekly Progress Reports (see sidebar), the Gantt chart, and this Project Management page should be printed out before meetings with the sponsor and instructor.
All team members should be able to explain all items on the progress report.
Place a "*" at the beginning of the title of the active week Progress Report (see * in sidebar).
Project Objectives
Concisely list and prioritize the project objectives and constraints
High Priority Objectives
Jet Lag Fighting Glasses 2.0: develop and prototype a new reinvigorated design that captures a marketable and aesthetic product
Tree Stress Wave Timer: develop a housing that envelopes the exposed PCB and adequately protects the PCB from damage
Second Priority Objectives
Jet Lag Fighting Glasses 2.0: new lens design that allows for better distribution of light via diffraction/reflection
Tree Stress Wave Timer: redesign housing to reflect potential changes in PCB (RJ11 to audio jack/microUSB)
Other Constraints and Issues
Jet Lag Fighting Glasses 2.0: constrained by budget and pre-existing software and PCB size
Tree Stress Wave Timer: constrained by budget and RJ11 port (which adds extra height and bulkiness to the case)
WOW Design Solution
Jet Lag Fighting Glasses 2.0 would pass for Ray-Ban Wayfarers because of its new design that makes it look sleek and aesthetic.
Tree Stress Wave Timer would be redesigned to be as minimal and self-sufficient as possible (self-induced hammer strike).
Risk Reduction Strategy
List areas of risk and strategy that will be used to eliminate risk really in the design process.
Intermediate Milestones
Identifying meaningful intermediate milestones is a critical for effective project management. Together with your sponsor identify such milestones, and specify specific performance requirements you aim to meet at each milestone.
