Artist Statement

Looking back at my time at William and Mary, I know with certainty that majoring in art was the best decision I made in college. Before coming to college, I pushed my interests in art to the side and labeled it as a hobby and a sometimes useful skill when it came to not needing to buy presents for holidays. That all changed when I took my first art class at the college and fell back in love with creating art. After this moment, I stopped looking at my art as “good enough” and started to see the bigger picture (no pun intended). It became less and less about impressing people and more about developing as an artist, trying new mediums, and most importantly, not being afraid to make something that didn’t look so great. I am forever thankful for my art professors for guiding me in the right direction these past four years!
