Teaching About Disability Discourse

This project investigated methods for teaching effectively about disability discourse in undergraduate classes here at William & Mary! DA@W&M collected survey data from students before and after learning about disability discourse in Prof. Cochrane's class. Her analysis has been published as Cochrane, L. (2020) "Teaching about Disability Discourse in the College Classroom" in Language Research in Multilingual Settings Ed. Lubie Grujici-Alatriste, Palgrave Macmillan. 

Teaching Introductory Linguistics

This paper, co-authored by W&M Prof.s Kate Harrigan, Anya Hogoboom, and Leslie Cochrane proposed a hands-on approach to teaching introductory linguistics through a series of interactive workshops for students. It was presented at the Linguistic Society of America's annual meeting in 2021 and was published in the journal Language in 2022 as Harrigan, K., Hogoboom, A., and Cochrane, L. "Furthering Student Engagement: Lab Sections in Introductory Linguistics."
