FACES is an annual campaign that interviews students on campus about their Asian American experience and identity. This project is inspired by the FACES conference, first held in 2001 and spearheaded by Judith Lee Chi '00, who strived to provide an opportunity for Asian and Asian American students at William & Mary to connect and foster discussion with each other. You can learn more about the FACES conference here.
FACES is typically posted in May to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We hope you enjoy it, and you can contact us to nominate yourself or others to be interviewed!
The AASI FACES logo was designed by the 2024-2025 Creative Expressions Chair, Lulu Griffin (2025). The logo features AASI's signature lotus flower and purple color scheme. Beneath the lotus are the silhouettes of two faces, embedded into the leaves of the lotus flower. The leaves are also meant to take the shape of a heart to signify compassion, love, and community.
