Daniel Lee (2028) is double-majoring in Business Analytics and Chemistry. Serving as AASI's Creative Expressions Chair, Daniel led the 2025-26 FACES Interview Series Campaign as its interviewer. His work explores the ways Asian Americans navigate language to shape their sense of self and find belonging in community, sitting at the crossroads of career and identity.
Harin Kim (2028) plans to major in Neuroscience. She reflects on how coming to college helped her build a stronger sense of belonging by connecting with people who share similar backgrounds while also learning from those with different perspectives. She discusses how her identity is shaped in layers, influenced by growing up in both Korea and Malaysia, and how this led her to see Asian American identity as both diverse and interconnected, while also recognizing her specific identity as Korean American. Harin also shares how her political perspective became more independent in college, moving away from strictly identifying with a single party and instead forming her own views. She additionally reflects on her experience navigating her religious identity, highlighting the importance of community and how it inspired her to support others while growing in her own faith.
Grace Son (2028) plans to major in Biology. She reflects on navigating her Asian American identity while growing up on a U.S. military base in Korea, where she experienced both Korean and American cultures. She shares how coming to college as a spring transfer helped her become more aware of Asian American identity in a U.S. context and exposed her to more open conversations about race and culture. Grace also discusses how her understanding of Asian American identity has evolved to see it as more complex and diverse, shaped by different backgrounds and experiences. She highlights how she built community by being proactive through classes, becoming an orientation aide, and joining AMP. She also reflects on how her experiences have shaped her political perspective, emphasizing civic engagement, representation, and the importance of creating inclusive spaces for diverse voices.
