Hannah Jones

I came across a quote from a writer from the 19th century, Mary Webb, “In blue the spirit can wander...” I’ve not read her work, or researched her at all really, but that quote intrigued me, like an invitation or permission. I was inspired to create a series of watercolor monoprints with big blue ambition. I imagined the prints would capture the essence of blue, its vastness, the sky and the ocean, the unknown, how we are all connected by blue, and loneliness; also blue. My instructor zoomed me in a little, and suggested I try to illustrate my own relationship with blue, so I went on a journey, and let my spirit wander.
