My inspiration for this series is to represent these classical statues as relatable humans suffering and rejoicing as human beings universally do. The text is from the ancient play, Medea, written by Euripides in 431 BC. Still today this play is surprisingly modern, the theme of which is the power of emotion to cause people to act as they would not, normally. Quoted from the play, this message is as relatable today as the age when it was written.

I am exploring mono printing and the variables in the transfer of paint from the plate to paper. Over the prints, I layer pastel and more painting with watercolor and gouache.
