Each of us has some experience with remote learning to draw upon from the spring. Rather than starting anew, we're building the expectations for remote learning on the same expectations that you lived up to this spring. These expectations are derived from the same sets of documents that we shared earlier this year. A student and faculty working group helped shape some of these expectations as well.
We ask that you read and review the section on Assessment in Remote Learning, specifically focusing on the five tenets of remote learning success. This will help us frame how learning and expectations will work for the year.
We will continue to hold you to the high standards you have come to expect.
We will hold open space for your communication so we can help you navigate changes to our community and to your personal situation.
We will communicate with each other to coordinate assignments/assessments to avoid and/or allow adjustments to unreasonable workloads.
We will strive to work together as a faculty/grade level team to have consistent practices regarding posting assignments, maintaining Blackbaud, and keeping you updated with classroom activities by relying on templates for posting materials so that there is uniformity across your classes.
We will commit to giving timely feedback.
We will keep the Progress Pages / Gradebook open and as up-to-date as possible so you can track your progress effectively, including marking missing assignments so you can get them turned in.
We will make sure all supplemental materials you need to complete your assignments are available digitally when possible.
We expect for you to do your own work and ask for help and use your resources.
We will be vigilant about keeping you safe, both physically and emotionally.
We will respect your privacy as it pertains to your health and the health of our community members.
We will establish and maintain regular office hours.
We will commit to maintaining two weeks of class plans published on the school website.
Your presence, both physically in-class (even if that is online) and mentally (with your focus).
Your commitment to showing up to class if we are remote (i.e. out of bed, awake and alert, dressed, in a location where you can focus, sound and video on). We will take attendance each class and expect you at each.
Your adherence to rules and procedures, both new and old.
Your contribution to the class environment in terms of engagement, investment in your own learning, completing required work products, and caring for yourself and one another.
You will be responsible for communicating with your teachers and advisor when it comes to your academic and personal needs.
If you are too ill to work, please be sure Mrs. Fulcher is aware of your condition. Your teachers will not expect you to work if you cannot complete assignments; we expect you to rest.
Once you are ready, teachers will work together, in conjunction with the grade level dean and your family, to create a “catch up protocol” that fits with your abilities. You should expect initial contact to be made by the grade level dean or your faculty advisor, with the potential for zoom calls or meetings, if needed. We will rely on the wide range of accommodations, including giving you an ‘incomplete’, if needed.
