This week was very productive for me and I got a huge chunk of my project done. I worked a lot through the beginning of break as I knew I was going to be missing three days of school due to vacation and photo shoot day.
At the end of last week I had spoke to Jeanne, the owner of Blue Water Dance wear to determine what I needed for the four models. Once we had finalized that, she shipped out the leos and they arrived that following Monday (April 16).
After these arrived I decided to send out a mass text to all the models / parents involved loaded with information. I had been in constant contact with Jewel (Julianna D Photography) about exactly where we were meeting, time, ect.
This text also included hair and makeup information. I had decided I wanted the girls hair down in beach waves. I figured this matched the bohemian/ free spirit look I was going for. As for makeup I decided on very simple nude and bronze tones. I sent the girls tons of inspiration pictures and they were able to go off of those and do their own thing. For most shoots I organize, I usually contact a hair and makeup artist. For this one, as the hair and makeup situation was so simple, it made more sense for the girls to do it themselves and do touch ups when we arrived on location.
I had contacted a shop that was going to make flower crowns for us about two weeks prior. She said she could get them done and would ship them out on Friday the 19th. I was away on vacation and would not be returning until the night before the shoot so I had my fingers crossed they would arrive...
I returned back from my vacation only to find out the flower crowns had not arrived. I had texted her prior to see if she had shipped them but I got no response. When I came home to no package, I texted her a few more times with no response. It was time to get creative. My Mom and I looked around the house for some old flower crowns and headpieces that I had used for previous photo shoots and we decided to up cycle them. Lisa Powers who was choreographing the shoot, is amazing at putting headpieces together so I decided to wait until the next morning to have her help.
I woke up the morning of the 24th, packaged the outfits and we got on the road to Exeter.
We met the models at a parking lot as a central location from where we were shooting. I pulled out all of the outfits for the girls and had them get changed and start stretching. While they were doing that, Lisa and I worked on some headpieces for the girls. When the girls finished stretching they came over and we began to match some flowers to each outfit and make sure we included all three colors on each girl. Once this was done, we walked over to our first location and began shooting.
I think the choice to do waves in the girls hair worked beautifully with the flowers and ribbon we added.
We ended up wandering around a bit and finding some more cool spots I did not see the first time I went up to scout. We started at the bridge, did some rock climbing, made our way over to a nearby park and finished up in town.
Here are some fun videos and pictures of behind the scenes to give everyone a sneak peek of what the final photos will look like.
I have seen a few final photos.. spoiler alert- they're stunning!
The photographer sent me the edited photos the day after and I am in LOVE. There are way too many to pick only a couple so I picked my favorites of each girl and a few group shots. To see the rest of the photos check out the people involved and their Instagrams.

I love my amazing team! Thank you to everyone who made this possible I loved working with each and every one of you.
Overall, this week was very successful and I am very happy with the way this shoot turned out. I like that we stuck to a simple general theme without getting too intense or over doing it.
