The transition..
Transitioning from being in class to projecting all day was a feeling I did not expect. Truthfully, I thought that I would feel trapped and cooped up being in the same classroom all day. The first few days were tough as I was still making up tests and quizzes so it felt like I was half in class and half projecting. It was difficult to focus when I still had a bunch of schoolwork on my mind. As the second week unfolded I fell more into my rhythm. I was able to come in, sit down, and pick up right where I left off the previous day. I got into my groove and was banging out my work no problem. As I said, I originally thought I would grow bored of doing the same thing all day but I discovered that because I am doing something that I love and am passionate about, I am being more productive than ever. So far this project has been a great experience and I am really excited to see where it takes me and my final products. Week two was extremely busy so take a look below to see what I accomplished. Thanks for stopping by! :)
April 8. My main goal for today was to finalize a theme. I did lots of pinterest research and pinning until I finally came to a conclusion. I had been loving the boho vibe but I wanted to take a modern twist on it. I have also been loving the color palette of grey, white and yellow. I decided to mesh them together and go with a fresh spring modern boho vibe with this color theme. Now that I have my color scheme and photo shoot theme, I could begin to pick out outfits that matched. I had already decided that I wanted four dancers so I had to pick out four leotards. I searched through the Blue Water Dancewear website to find some leotards that went along with the boho vibe. I found some that went along with my vision and then checked to see if they were available in my color scheme. Luckily they were, and I found four leotards I love and cannot wait to use. I got two white ones, one yellow and one grey. The leotards have been shipped and should be arriving early next week.
I put together a separate pinterest board once the theme was finalized. This board includes tons of inspiration. Obviously as this is a dance shoot, the photos will look very different. I use this board to get my ideas flowing about hair, makeup, location and other things potentially needed for the shoot. It helps tie together my vision in one place so I can picture it with dancers and truly bring it to life to the best of my ability.
Now that I had my vision in place, it is time to contact all parties involved and check their availability. Late last week I asked the models if they were interested of being apart of the project, but it was time to set a date. My goal for today was to get a solid date on the calendar. This is one of the most difficult parts of the planning process because everyone involved has to be available on the same day at the same time. The process of finding a date took me about two hours in total but once we settled on one, I felt extremely relieved. I started off by speaking to one of the models Mom on Monday. Her daughter is one of the busier girls I am working with so I figured it would be best to get the dates she was available first, and then work around her. I decided the best way to do this would be a little old school. In person, over the phone, and on paper. I met with Elaine on Monday morning. Before I left, I printed out a full calendar of the month of April and marked off all the days I knew would not work. April break, dance competition and other days I knew I was unavailable. Elaine and I went through the calendar and we marked off when Jocelyn was available. Now that I had this information I would be able to get everyone else availability and find one date that worked. From here I talked to the photographer and the other models and gave them the dates Jocelyn was available. they gave me their dates and I added each name to the days they were available until one date had everyone on it. After an excruciating process, the date of the shoot was settled to be April 24th at 12:30.

loc
ation hunting has begun..
At first, I pondered the idea of shooting in Boston. I thought the public garden or some sort of arboretum would fit great with my theme. I started to research some locations, but then I got some messages from the people I was working with. The photographer has class until 11am and two of the models have to be back in Reading at 5pm for a mandatory rehearsal. Boston would be a little far for the photographer if we wanted to start earlier and the girls trying to get out of Boston at rush hour would be a disaster. Jewel suggested a place in Exeter and I decided to do a little research. I googled pictures and info about other places around the area but I knew the best way to get true judgement would be to go see it for myself. On Thursday, I drove up to Exeter and did some location scouting. i found a great spot with a bunch of cool places hidden in it. A few pictures are below.. I don't want to give away all the cool stuff!
These photos do not do these locations justice. With the correct lighting (fingers crossed its sunny on the 24th!) I know these locations will be perfect.
We may not use these exact spots, could be too sunny, too shady - we will not know until we get there. We could also find other spots in the area that we may like better than these. We will have to wait and see what we end up using and what we do not.
