On Tuesday, the three of us were so excited to get started on our senior project and really dive in to the music! We spent Tuesday setting up our "home base," tucked away in backstage right of the auditorium. We talked through our goals for this project and some keywords that we wanted to aim for in our album. In addition, we planned the covers we wanted to do and spitballed original song ideas back and forth.
On Wednesday, we dove into the music. We learned and arranged "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley, writing down ideas as we went. We continued to throw out ideas for other covers and played around with snippets of original work. Once we got "Crazy" to a solid enough point, Andrew and I recorded a quick demo. We started to learn "Old Friends" and talked over the mood we wanted to convey.
On Friday we made good headway for our second cover "Old Friends" by Pinegrove. We decided to keep the instrumentation simple and stick with the piano/drums/vocals combo instead of trying to emulate the original tone of the song by layering guitar tracks on top. This is one one of our earlier takes of a runthrough.
