This course is an introduction to business advertising in the private enterprise economy from the viewpoint of the business owner. Questions such as what, why, to whom, where, when and how to advertise are explored through a variety of projects and problem based learning activities. Students will learn about the process of advertising in today’s marketplace including the internet and social media advertising strategies. Other class activities include the creation of print media and mass media advertisements such as radio and television commercials. Students planning to major in business, marketing, advertising, commercial graphic design, or pursuing careers in retail or business management will benefit from learning about and practicing advertising strategies to attract potential customers. Through project based learning opportunities students will begin to develop artifacts for a professional marketing student portfolio.
