Prerequisite: None
NCAA approved
This course fulfills the Social Studies elective requirement for graduation.
Military History is a one semester course that focuses on the strategy, tactics, technology, leadership and logistics of warfare. The course offers a comprehensive history of war, from Ancient Greece and Rome to the current War on Terror, blending broad overviews of conflicts with eye witness accounts from those fighting on the front lines.
Rationale: This elective will provide interested students the opportunity to further examine topics related to war discussed in World Studies and U.S. History. It will also provide a more robust historical context for understanding armed conflict. To quote the historian Victor Davis Hanson, “...democratic citizenship requires knowledge of war— and now, in the age of weapons of mass annihilation, more than ever.”
