2013 FootBALL Team

Inducted  September 20, 2023

The accomplishments of the 2013 Royal Football team are arguably the most impressive of any team in Eastern Hancock history. Head Coach Pat Echevarria’s team dominated their opponents on the way to a school record-tying 14 wins. The team won every game by at least a two-touchdown margin, with only two wins being by less than 21 points. The team scored over 40 points 11 times, 50 points nine times, 60 points seven times, and topped 70 points three times. In a nine-game stretch beginning in week four of the regular season through the sectional championship game, they scored 52 points or more every game, winning those games by a combined score of 588-121, with three shutouts during this streak. They were Mid-Indiana Football Conference champions with a 5-0 conference record.

The 2013 Royals dominating performance all season long is documented by a look at the Eastern Hancock school record book. The average score of all games was an impressive 52.9-15.8. The team set and still holds single game team records with 516 yards rushing, 669 yards total offense, and 78 points. They still hold the single season school record for wins with 14, rushing with 339.8 yards per game, total offense with 458.2 yards per game, and 794 points scored. There were many individual accomplishments as well, as seven players were named all-conference, seven all-county, and three were named all-state. These accomplishments all culminated with the Royals making only the second appearance in a state championship game in any sport in Eastern Hancock history.
