Kiersten Schrope Martin

Kiersten Schrope Martin is a 2014 graduate of Eastern Hancock. Kiersten earned eleven varsity letters in 12 possible seasons, with four letters in cross country and basketball, and three in track. Her nomination described Kiersten as having flawless character and being a teacher’s dream in the classroom.

Kiersten was named the most valuable runner all four years in cross country. She was the leader of the semi-state qualifying team her junior year. Kiersten’s teams all qualified for regional her last three years. She qualified for regional as an individual her last three years and was a semi-state qualifier individually her junior and senior years. Kiersten was All-County and All-Mid-Hoosier Conference her junior and senior years.

In basketball, Kiersten was named All Mid-Hoosier Conference and All-County in both her junior and senior seasons. She graduated holding the single season school records for assists and steals, and as the career record holder in steals. Kiersten totaled the first quadruple double in Eastern Hancock girls basketball history.

Kiersten also has a long list of accomplishments in track. She is the school record holder in the 800 meters and 4x400 meter relay. Kiersten was sectional champion in the 800 meters as a sophomore, county champion in the 800 meters as a sophomore and junior, and county champion in the 4x800 meter relay as a junior. Kiersten was Mid-Hoosier conference champion in four events as a junior and three events as a senior, while leading the Royals to conference championships both years. She qualified for the regional in two events as a sophomore, four events as a junior, and three events as a senior. Kiersten was named most valuable on the team each of her last three seasons.

Kiersten continued her athletic career in cross country and track at Marian University. Kiersten holds three school records at Marian, in addition to multiple All-Crossroads Conference recognitions, NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete, and was an NAIA national qualifier.

Kiersten graduated from Marian University with a degree in nursing. She is currently employed by Community North Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse. She and her husband, Presley, live in the Anderson area.
