Dustin Smith

Dustin Smith is a 2011 Eastern Hancock graduate who earned 4 varsity letters in basketball. Dustin is the second leading scorer in Eastern Hancock history. Dustin was a member of the 2008 sectional championship team. He is the career leader in three pointers and free throws made. He is the single season record holder in scoring average, free throws made, and free throw percentage. Dustin ranks in the top three all-time in school history in 10 statistical categories. Dustin led the state in free throw percentage as a senior. 

Dustin played in the Hoosier Basketball Reunion Classic and was named to Hoosier Basketball Magazine’s Top 60 Seniors. Dustin was named All-Hancock County four times, including being named county Player of the Year as a senior. He was named Indy Star All-Metro East and All-Conference two times, named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Underclass Showcase twice, and was IBCA Honorable Mention All-State as a junior. 

Dustin played basketball at Maine Central Institute for a year before coming back home and giving up the goal of college basketball after a second knee surgery. Dustin and his wife, Maddie, live locally. Dustin is employed by Petry Excavating.
