Derek Harmon

 Derek Harmon is a 2003 graduate of Eastern Hancock. He earned four varsity letters in football and basketball, one in track. He was the consummate teammate who took more pleasure in the accomplishments of the team than personal achievements. Harmon was a four-year starter at quarterback and defensive back in football. He was named All Hancock County and Indy Star All-East as a quarterback in 2002. He was named Class 1A All State on offense and defense by AP and the Indiana Football Coaches Association. As a senior, Harmon led the Royals to a sectional championship and played in the 2003 North/South All-Star Game. Harmon graduated as the career leader in passing yards, single season leader in passing yards and touchdown passes, single game leader in passing yards, and the school record holder with a 103-yard interception return. Harmon was also a four-year starter in basketball. He was a two-time Daily Reporter Hancock County Player of the Year and the 2003 Indianapolis Star East Player of the Year. He was named to the Indiana Basketball Top 40 in 2003. Harmon graduated as the school’s career leading scorer and rebounder, and continues to hold the school record for three pointers made in a single season. Harmon was the team leader on the Royals’ most successful tournament team, winning sectional and regional championships before losing to Forest Park in the Final Four. Harmon resides in Wilkinson with his wife Erin and nine-month-old son, Kaleb Timothy Harmon.
