Pete Hubert

Pete Hubert is a 1976 graduate of Eastern Hancock. Pete was a three-year varsity starter in football and basketball and a 4 year starter in baseball. He graduated as Eastern Hancock’s career scoring leader in basketball with 1,210 points and still holds the single season record of 517 points. Pete did much of his scoring with outside shooting before the three-point shot rule went into effect. He also holds single season records in baseball for singles, runs scored, stolen bases, and win/loss percentage by a pitcher. Pete was a starter on the 1974 New Castle sectional championship basketball team and the 1976 Greenfield sectional championship baseball team, the only baseball sectional champion in school history. He was also head coach of the girls’ basketball sectional championship team in 2001, the only girl’s sectional champion to date. Pete is now athletic director at Southport High School. He and his family live in the Mt. Vernon school district.
