Learn about military training and becoming a Leader of Character at West Point by completing two military days to include rappelling, Zodiac boats, combatives (like Jiu-Jitsu) training and more!
Challenge themselves physically by attempting the Candidate Fitness Assessment, conducting physical training, and sports.
Complete their admissions interview with a cadet.
Spend the week making friends with other students from all over the US who are applying to West Point.
We will accept applications until April 15th. SLE is competitive and not all who apply are offered to attend.

Earn up to $1,200 working as a reporter for the Sacramento School Beat. Each student hired will be trained to report on their school and district as part of an effort to compensate for the dwindling ranks of professional education reporters resulting from a shrinking media industry. All student work will appear on the program website, https://sacschoolbeat.com/, and its Student News Source phone app (available on Apple and Google online stores). Stories also will be distributed to local Sacramento area news outlets for republishing.
Each student reporter will be required to attend a summer training in Sacramento, to produce stories each month during the academic year, and attend monthly meetings on Zoom (and/or necessary additional trainings). Student reporters are expected to check their email, texts and phones regularly and communicate promptly with program writing coaches and editors. Deadline April 25th, 2024
