Finance

Students living in the Netherlands should ideally have a Dutch (European) bank account. For students under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present to open the account. The school cannot fulfil this role, as we are not your child’s legal guardians.

Cash is often not accepted in the Netherlands. If you send cash, please note:

• Students should not keep more than €50 in their room.

• Up to €2,000 can be stored in the school safe.

• €500 and €200 bills are not accepted in the Netherlands and cannot be exchanged by the school.

• We recommend bringing cash in multiples of €50 bills or less.

Large amounts of cash, bank cards, credit cards, pocket money, and tickets should be handed to the Boarding Parents for safekeeping. All items are stored in our safe and recorded with a wet-ink signature..

Cash payments are often not accepted in the Netherlands. If you do send cash, please know that your child cannot have more than €2,000 cash in the safe, and no bills larger than €50 as these are generally not accepted in stores and establishments. Students should keep no more than EUR 50 in cash in their roomzl. Hand in large amounts of cash, bank cards, credit cards, pocket money and tickets to Boarding Parents for safekeeping in our safe - all is logged with wet ink signatures. 

PLEASE NOTE - €500 and €200 bills are not generally accepted in the Netherlands and cannot be changed by the school. Ideally, cash should be brought in multiples of €50 bills or less.

Passports

All passports need to be handed in to Boarding Parents on arrival to Eerde. If students keep their passports and lose them we are not able to help them apply for a new passport.

We can keep other valuable documents such as Birth Certificates, required for registration with the Local Authorioties, however these should be taken home during the first holiday break, for security reasons. 

Valuables

Your valuables are your responsibility. Take care of them, making sure not to leave anything unattended. If you so wish, you can hand them in to the boarding parents.
