We've began our forces and magnets topic of work in science. We will be finding out all about different forces over the coming weeks.
Week 1 - We investigated how far bottle tops travelled on the hall floor - one was smooth plastic and the other was covered with rough sand paper! We learned that the force of friction slowed down the lids with sandpaper!
Last week, as part of our forces and magnets week, we investigated friction. We used ramps and added different surfaces to them to see which surface had the most (and least) amount of friction. Strangely, in both classes, we discovered that our sandpaper ramp seemed to have the least amount of friction- a surprise for us all!
After looking into it further, we discovered that the sandpaper had less contact points, so even though it seemed 'rough' less of the area was touching the car, so there was less friction! Isn't that amazing!?
We've shared a few of our photos below. It was a little cramped carrying out this one in our rooms so we've not got many!
It's been 3H's turn to create some music this week. They've done a great job!
We've created cave art this week using charcoal.
We've been busy creating lots of work already this half term. Here are some of the displays that are up in our classrooms:
We used magnets to investigate whether materials were magnetic or non-magnetic. If the magnet attracted an object, we knew it was magnetic! Ask us what we found out!
We've enjoyed creating a shut the box game in class today and played it with our partners. Some of our victory poses are below!
In art, we have started our foraging topic! We've collected different natural items and attempted to create our own paints. Our results were quite interesting!
We enjoyed performing poems to one another today. Some of us even wanted to share it to the class at the end!
