In class this week we have been practising counting in 5s and 2s. We made lovely counting kites to take home to help us practise and get ready for learning our tables!
This week we have been practsing hard for the upcoming Christmas production - the children are singing and dancing so well and we can't wait for you all to come and see us in under 2 weeks!
We enjoyed a lovely party on Friday afternoon to celebrate the end of our unit of learning on Diwali. We made decorations using rangoli patterns, lit out beautiful diva lamps, danced bhangra style, painted our hands 'mehndi style', played games and ate the picnic of sandwiches and fruit kebabs we had prepared!
This week we have been creating our Diva lamps in preparation for our Diwali party next week. In science, we have learnt about evergreen and deciduous trees and enjoyed a tree hunt around the school field looking at trees.
Thank you to everyone for your support with Children in Need on Friday. The children looked wonderful in their spotty outfits and we had lots of fun doing a workout with Joe Wicks!
We have had a very busy week in year one this week! We have looked at the Italian artist Archimbaldo and created some Autumn artwork in his style. We have learned the story of Diwali, describing the main characters and story-mapping the events. We have begun to design our Diwali lamps and we have also observed Remembrance day and created a poppy collage for our window. Great work year one, we wish you a restful weekend!
This week we have taken part in lots of Fireworks activities. We are able to use adjectives and verbs to describe the sight, sound and movement of fireworks, and used these ideas to write some lovely poetry! We have also used various media and tools: such as soft pastels, paint, glitter, pipe cleaners and straws, to create fantastic firework silhouettes.
