WELCOME YEAR 5 FAMILIES
Welcome to the Year 5 Community Blog, a shared space where we celebrate the learning, growth, and achievements of our Year 5 students. Throughout the year, this blog will feature snapshots of classroom life including photographs, quotes and learning highlights that reflect the diverse experiences taking place across our Year 5 classrooms.
We invite you to explore the blog and enjoy staying connected to the learning happening each day within our learning community. We look forward to sharing the journey!
Ciao, my name is Olivia Vella, this is my eighth year teaching at ACPS. As the Year 5 Learning Specialist, I am passionate about supporting high-quality teaching and learning and working collaboratively with teachers and students across our Year 5 community.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, capturing moments through photography, travelling, heading off on camping adventures and making the most of the outdoors.
I am passionate about creating positive, engaging learning environments and look forward to a year filled with growth, learning, and rich, memorable experiences.
Hi everyone! My name is Reena Barron and this is my fifth year of teaching at ACPS. This is now my fourth year with the same group of students and watching their confidence and independence develop over the years has been so special.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, travelling, spending time with my family, and going to the beach. I’m also a huge Disney fan!
A special fun fact: this will be my last year going by the name 'Miss Barron'. My very first year of teaching was with this cohort when they were in Grade 1, and now it feels incredibly special that my last year as Miss Barron is with the very same group of students I had the privilege of teaching in my first year.
I’m really looking forward to a fantastic year full of growth, laughter, and memories in Year 5!
My name is Emmanuel Kappos and this will be my third year teaching as ACPS. I have previously taught year 4's and I am excited to be teaching the year 5 cohort. I'm very passionate about making school a fun, safe space for my students and seeing them reach their goals is massively rewarding.
Outside of school I like to spend time trying new food spots or watching movies or shows with friends and family.
I'm super excited for 2026 and to watch my students grow and to achieve increadible things together.
Hi everyone!
My name is Caner Bademoglu but the students refer to me as Mr. B. This is my third year of teaching Year 5. I'm passionate about creating a positive, respectful and high-achieving classroom where every student feels valued and capable.
Outside of school, I enjoy staying active, following sport, working on cars and spending quality time with family and friends. I believe in lifelong learning and bring that same energy and curiosity into the classroom each day.
I look forward to supporting our students learn, challenge themselves and having lots and lots of fun together.
.
Hi everyone! My name is Ms Pulcino, and I am your 5B classroom teacher. I’m so excited to be teaching Grade Five this year and can’t wait to have lots of fun learning together. I previously taught Grade Two and was also the P.E. teacher in 2025. I love all things sport and play football for the Western Bulldogs VFL team. My favourite subjects (other than P.E.) are English and CBL. I love watching movies like Grown Ups, The Lorax, and The Wizard of Oz. At Christmas time, my favourites are Home Alone and The Grinch. My dream travel destination is New York City. Fun fact: I am Italian and Maltese, I have a twin brother, and two dogs named Pablo and Zeus. I’m really looking forward to an amazing year in 5B!
Hello Everyone,
My name is Yousif Wardy and this will be my second year teaching. I have previously taught as a CRT before getting my own classroom during term 3 of last year. My favourite subject is maths, and I enjoy writing and telling stories. My goal for this year is to develop my students’ independence, collaboration skills, creativity, and focus on the steady growth of my students.
Outside of school I enjoy playing all types of games (video, card, board), staying active, spending quality time with family and friends.
Looking forward to working with and supporting my students learn, achieve new goals, and overcome any challenges.
My name is Mrs Rowe and I’m very excited to be teaching Year 5 this year. I love helping students grow in confidence, try new things, and discover what they are capable of both in and out of the classroom. Before becoming a teacher, I studied Health Science and I’m continuing to learn more about nutrition and wellbeing because I’m passionate about helping people live healthy lives. I have two children of my own, so I understand how important school partnerships with families are. I enjoy creating a classroom where students feel safe, supported, and proud of their learning. When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my family, being outdoors, and working on new ideas to make learning fun and engaging. I’m really looking forward to a fantastic year of learning together!
