Tasks: Giving and Mindful Colouring

Task: 'Giving'

Objectives:

  • I can explore what things I do for others.

  • I can explore what thinks others do for me.

Materials:

  • Giving worksheet (see home learning display pack collected on Friday 8th August)

  • Drawing Utensil (pen, pencil, marker, coloured pencils or crayons)

Procedure:

  1. Think about the things you do for others and the things they do for you.

  2. Draw or write the items on the gift - take the time to do it well and use colour to represent each item.

Task: Mindful Colouring

Objectives:

  • I can use mindful colouring to help reduce anxiety and stress.

  • I can use mindful colouring to help me sleep.

  • I can use mindful colouring to help me improve my focus.

  • I can use mindful colouring to help my vision and motor skills.

Materials:

  • Mindful Colouring worksheet (see home learning display pack collected on Friday 8th August)

  • Drawing Utensil (pen, pencil, marker, coloured pencils or crayons)

Procedure:

  1. Using a variety of colours, carefully colouring in the Mandela drawings on the 'Mindful Colouring' worksheet.

Tasks: R u OK? day Activity & Ripplebrook Spoonville Spoons

1. R u OK? day activity - Asking, ‘Are you OK?’

On Thursday 10th September it is our national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that every day is the day to ask, “Are you OK?” and support those struggling with life's ups and downs.

This year's message is 'There's more to say after R U OK?'

Objectives:

  • I can identify my coping skills.

  • I can use my help-seeking strategies.

  • I can identify where to find community support resources.

  • I can identify the people who are important to me.

Materials:

  • R u OK? Together it's OK! YouTube video

  • Blank paper and drawing Utensil (pen, pencil, marker, coloured pencils or crayons)

Procedure:

  1. Watch, ‘It’s OK!’ music video

  2. While watching the video, concentrate on the words and actions Blue uses to describe how he is feeling. What do his friends do to make him feel better?

  3. On a blank piece of paper, draw a picture of you and your friends and what you all do to make each other feel better.

2. Ripplebrook's Spoonville

Objectives:

  • I can make a character for the school's 'Spoonville' display.

Materials (suggestions):

  • Wooden spoon

  • Paint

  • Textas/permanent markers

  • Fabric/wool

  • varnish (optional)

Procedure:

  1. Using a wooden spoon decorate it any way that you like. You can do a self portrait, a super hero, character from a tv show it is up to you!

  2. Before you decorate your spoon, trace around it in your workbook and plan what your spoon will look like. Think about the things that you have at home that you can use, think about the colours that you are going to use.

Fathers Day Craft Ideas

Pick one or all of the ideas below to make for your Dad, Step-Dad, Pop, Uncle or any other special person in your life for Father's Day on Sunday 6th September.

Monday 24th August to Friday 28th August - Term 3 Week 7

Tasks: There are two activities you can do this week for creative time, see below.

1.Mind Mapping Our Uniqueness

Objectives:

  • I can explore what makes me unique.

  • I can explore information about me like where i live, born etc.

  • I can explore the things i like.

  • I can explore the things i am good at.

Materials:

  • Mind Map worksheet (see home learning display pack collected on Friday 8th August)

  • Drawing Utensil (pen, pencil, marker, coloured pencils or crayons)

Procedure:

  1. Think about the examples mentioned on the worksheet like where you live, where you were born, your family members, music you like, who your friends are, hobbies, sports, etc and write a list of everything you want to include on your mind map.

  2. Draw or write the items on your list into your mind map - take the time to do well and use colour to represent each item.

2. Aboriginal Artworks - linking to our Integrated Studies tasks - finish or create a new artwork.

Objectives:

  • I can create my own symbols that represent significant people, animals, places and events in my life.

  • I can use these symbols to create a piece of artwork.

  • I can identify the symbols aboriginals use in their artwork and what each symbol represents.

Materials:

  • Blank piece of paper

  • Drawing Utensil (pen, pencil, marker, coloured pencils or crayons)

Procedure:

  1. Create your own symbols that represent significant people, animals, places and events in my life.

  2. Using these symbols, create a piece of artwork inspired by aboriginal artwork. (see below for examples)

Mind Map:

Everyone is unique (one of a kind) and we have to celebrate what makes us unique. Sometimes we may like the same things as our friends but sometimes we don't and that is OK, it may be one of the reasons your friend is your friend!

Task: Design a WARM and COOL colours front cover for your home learning display pack

Objectives:

  • I can create a design that uses warm and cool colours.

  • I can select and create different details to add to my front cover.

  • I can use craftsmanship to fully colour on my front cover page.

Materials:

  • Paper (see back pocket of your home learning display pack collected on Friday 8th August)

  • Drawing Utensil (pen, pencil, marker, coloured pencils or crayons)

Procedure:

  1. Decorate your home learning display pack front cover using a combination of warm and cool colours.

  2. See below for an example of warm and cool colours.
