Looking ahead to Stage 5 HSIE electives already? If you're curious about the world, enjoy learning about different people and cultures, or are considering History, Geography or Commerce in Stage 5, International Studies is the perfect starting point.

Why choose Japanese?

This course builds on what you learned in Year 7 Japanese, helping you further develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills while building confidence in communicating in Japanese.

Discover the language and culture of one of Australia's most important neighbours and trading partners. You'll communicate in authentic situations, explore Japanese traditions and contemporary culture, and respond to a range of texts including conversations, videos, stories and digital media. Along the way, you'll gain a deeper appreciation of Japan's unique customs, values and way of life.
