Introductory Agriculture

This Agriculture course introduces students to agriculture in their local region. It is a practical based subject set at the School Farm which develops skills in the areas of:
Livestock care and handling, such as cattle, sheep and poultry
Propagating plants and crops
Vegetable and orchard production
Garden tools, machinery, livestock equipment
Materials / Equipment required: Laptop and leather-covered footwear.
Cost: $10 per semester for consumables.
Introductory Electronics
Contact Person: Mr Elliott
This course is designed to give students an introductory taste of electronics. Students will construct fun practical products associated with electronics.
They will gain skills in:
component identification
soldering
circuit assembly and coding
using tools and machines
Possible projects include:
Obstacle avoiding robot cars
Robot arms
Laser light shows
Students will use buzzers, buttons, lights, sensors and many other electronic components.
Materials/Equipment Required: COVERED LEATHER FOOTWEAR (NO MESH TOP RUNNERS ALLOWED)

Introductory Food Technology

This practical based course is designed to give students the opportunity to:
Study nutrition
Understand food selection
Prepare and present food
Identify foods for special occasions
Students will develop skills and knowledge in food hygiene, safe food handling skills and learn to make informed decisions about food selection. This course is designed to give students an understanding of the impact food choices has on an individual’s health. Students who are interested in developing skills in preparing and presenting food, selecting appropriate ingredients, methods and equipment will find this course valuable and interesting.
Materials / Equipment Required: Enclosed leather shoes.

Introductory Graphics
Contact Person: Mr Harris
This course is designed to give students an introduction to graphics and technical drawing.
Students will develop skills in and produce practical drawings, diagrams and graphics in areas such as:
Architecture
Making part and assembly drawings
Graphic Design of posters and logos
Computer Aided Drawing (CAD)
Students design and produce drawings such as a house plan, colourful and creative posters and logos, and 3D designs of parts and objects.
Introductory Jewellery Design
Contact Person: Mrs Dennis, Mr Cowell
This practical based course is designed to give the students the opportunity to focus more directly on the development of jewellery design in products for body adornment and personal expression.
Decoration has been used as a form of cultural expression, to enhance appearance and signify changes in social identity. Body adornment may include items such as necklaces, earrings, ear piercing, nose rings, neck rings, makeup and henna. Apart from the clothes we wear every day, sometimes we want to enhance ourselves with jewellery, belts, masks or some other form of body decoration.
Material/Equipment required: COVERED LEATHER FOOTWEAR (NO MESH TOP RUNNERS ALLOWED)
Cost: $30 per semester for consumables used in practical projects
Introductory Metalwork
Course Person: Mr Trenaman and Mr Campbell
This course is designed to give students a taste of Industrial Technology Metal. Students will construct practical products associated with Metalwork such as an ornate hose holder and handy trade tools.
Students will learn skills in the following areas:
Basic marking out techniques
Basic tool skills such as drilling and filing
How to bend and shape metals to fabricate projects
Braze Welding
Machine skills for drilling and shaping metals

Introductory Multimedia

Do you like making videos or Animations? Do you wish you could ever host your own radio station, news show or be that hilarious presenter like Anchorman? This is your chance! Multimedia offers students the ability to develop communication skills through a variety of mediums.
The Multimedia Industry has become one of the largest growing industries and job growth is expected to rise in the future. This course provides you with an insight into some sectors of the Multimedia Industry, such as radio and news presentations.
This course presents an overview of the Multimedia Industry, including a chance to view the radio, podcasting and news sectors in more depth. With the use of our recording studio, state of the art recording equipment, this course will provide you with a chance to gain new skills whilst having fun.
Cost: $10 per semester cover the cost of equipment and resource management.
Introductory Animation

Do you love cartoons or wonder how your favourite animated movies are made? In Animation you'll dive into the exciting world of animation. This course offers a hands-on approach to learning the basics of animation, from drawing and storyboarding to creating your own animated shorts. You'll explore different animation techniques, including traditional hand-drawn and digital animation, using industry-standard software and equipment.
The animation industry is rapidly growing, with numerous career opportunities on the horizon. This course provides a solid foundation in animation principles and techniques, allowing you to develop your creative skills and bring your ideas to life. Join us to gain valuable skills, have fun, and unleash your creativity.

Introductory Textiles Technology

This practical based course is designed to give the students the opportunity to focus more directly on the development of textile projects in selected focus areas in consideration of the:
Properties and performance of textiles
Design considerations specific to textiles
The role of textiles in society.
Practical textile projects will give students the opportunity to be creative independent learners, and to explore the functional and aesthetic aspects of textiles.
Materials and Equipment Required: A4 Display folder, dressmaking pins, threads and fabrics for practical projects. Leather covered footwear.
Cost: $15 per semester
Introductory Woodwork
Contact Person: Mr Trenaman and Mr Cowell
This course is designed to give students a taste of Industrial Technology Timber. Students will construct practical products. Projects such as a jewellery box and the Tower of Hanoi (Puzzle) give the students grounding in elementary setting out, machine usage, safety and basic tool skills which include sawing, joint work and planing. This is the perfect introduction into woodworking for the student who either wants this as a career or as a hobby for enjoyment.
