Years 7 to 10
Lessons 5 to 10 are structured by the teacher to develop their own choreographic work in collaboration with the students.
Examples have been given as a guide only.
Lesson 5:
Choreographer selects 2 or 3 sequences that the entire group learns together.
Name the sequences.
Teacher develops a locomotor sequence for all students to learn.
Decide on entry and exit strategies.
Lesson 6:
Teacher to create a movement schedule that encompasses group and individual sections.
Dancers given instructions to practise including counts of stillness as a unifying element.
Set up a movement grid with numbers, words and music cues representing the sequences encompassing the individual and group phrases.

Lesson 7:
Students work through their own matrix so they are not reliant on others.
Work through the pieces developed.
Add plot of positions for each dancer.
Refine and make any needed changes.
Lesson 8:
Students reflect on the process and write/record their own observations.
Refine and make any needed changes.
Lesson 9:
Prepare a story board.
Ensure cameras are position well to capture all the elements of the work.
Film outdoors.
Lesson 10:
Students analyse and evaluate the whole project.
Edit film.
Teacher evaluates the whole project and documents any recommendations to implement when attempting similar units of work.
