Textiles Technology

Watch this video for an introduction to the Textiles Technology course

Subject Description

The aim of Textiles Technology is to develop confidence and proficiency in the design, production and evaluation of textile items. Students actively engage in learning about the properties and performance of textiles, textile design and the role of textiles in society.

Areas of Study

There are three areas of study explored within Textiles Technology:

•       Design

•       Properties and Performance of Textiles

•       Textiles and Society.

The relevant content from each area of study and the project work will reflect the integration of practical skills and theoretical knowledge. Students will engage in hands-on projects that demonstrate their understanding of design principles, the characteristics and performance of various textiles, and the impact of textiles on society. This comprehensive approach ensures that students are well-prepared for further education or careers in the textile and fashion industries.
