The aim of Industrial Technology Years 7–10 Syllabus is to develop knowledge, understanding, skills and values related to a range of technologies through safe interaction with tools, materials and processes in the design, planning, management and production of quality projects. Students are required to develop an understanding of the interrelationships between technology, the individual, society and the environment, and to develop their ability to think creatively to produce solutions to practical problems.
The Timber focus area provides opportunities for students to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to the timber and associated industries.
Core Module: Timber 1 develops knowledge and skill in the use of includes tools, materials and techniques related to timber.
Specialised Module: enhances and further develops knowledge and skill in the use of tools, materials and techniques related to timber
Practical Projects promote the sequential development of skills and may include:
decorative timber products
furniture items
small bowls or turned items
storage and display units
storage and transportation products.
