The aim of Industrial Technology Years 7–10 Syllabus is to develop knowledge, understanding, skills and values related to a range of technologies through safe interaction with tools, materials and processes in the design, planning, management and production of quality projects. Students are required to develop an understanding of the interrelationships between technology, the individual, society and the environment, and to develop their ability to think creatively to produce solutions to practical problems.
The Engineering focus area provides opportunities for students to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to engineering and its and associated industries.
Core Module: Engineering develops knowledge and skill in the use of tools, materials and techniques related to Engineering Structures and Engineered Mechanisms.
Specialised modules: Enhances and further develops knowledge and skill in the use of tools, materials and techniques through the specialist modules in:
• Alternative Energy
• Control Systems
Practical Projects promote the development of skills and may include:
• virtual 3D modelling
• electronics
• coding
• small structure products
• small vehicle products
