SCRIPTURE

A feature of the public education system in NSW is the opportunity to provide time in class for education in ethics, faith and morality from a religious or non-religious perspective at the choice of parents. These programs are taught during scripture and ethics classes.

At North Rocks Public School we offer the following religious options:

*Protestant

*Catholic

*Islamic (Please Note – Islamic classes are dependent on teacher availability)

These religious programs are taught by trained volunteers from our local churches.

Parents may choose instead for their children to attend Ethics classes. These lessons are run by volunteers who have completed Ethics training. We encourage any parents who are interested in training as an ethics teacher to contact the school so we can provide you with the contact information. Ethics classes are only able to run when volunteers are available. If we are unable to find volunteers for this program for a particular grade, students go onto a waiting list and attend non-scripture classes.

If you prefer that your child not attend either religious or ethics classes they will be supervised by a classroom teacher in a non-scripture group. No regular programs will take place during this time.

At Best Start you will be given a form to complete where you will select a religious, ethics or non-scripture option for your child. This option will continue from year to year unless you notify the school of any change. Parents / carers are able to change their decision at any time by contacting the school in writing, either by email or letter.
