8K students travelled to the Royal Botanical Gardens on Monday to have a tour of the bush tucker garden within the grounds. They were able to sample different bush tucker foods, including Davidson plum, Native Raspberry, and Black Apple- all which were grown in the garden.
The tour guide, Lachlan, was extremely knowledgeable about the plants- educating students about their cultural and historical uses by both Indigenous Aboriginals and the European settlers, as well as informing them about the geography and science behind how these plants are able to thrive in our diverse and arid climate.
It was a beautiful, sunny day and a great experience for students to venture into the city and learn about Indigenous culture.
