The mandatory topic for the Music 2 Preliminary course is Music 1600-1900.
Students will undertake 3 assessment tasks in Year 11.
The mandatory topic for the Music 2 HSC course is Music of the last 25 years (Australian focus).
Students will undertake a minimum of 3 or a maximum of 4 assessment tasks in Year 12.
The HSC examination for Music 2 consists of the following components:
Written paper - Musicology and Aural Skills (35 marks)
Practical examination, consisting of
One performance (15 marks), and
Sight singing (5 marks)
Core composition (15 marks)
Elective (30 marks); Students select either:
Two additional performances, or
One additional composition, or
One musicology essay
