Student wellbeing encompasses everything the Bayanami Public School community does to meet the needs of our students and to enhance their happiness and safety. It is reflected in the way we demonstrate care, ensure safety and provide opportunities for success and recognition of each student.
Wellbeing is associated with better student outcomes, across a broad range of domains from academic achievement to mental health and responsible life choices. Evidence shows that students with higher levels of wellbeing are more likely to be higher academic achievers and complete Year 12, have better mental health and lead a more pro-social and responsible lifestyle.
Paying attention to student wellbeing also acknowledges the pivotal role of education in preparing all students for a rewarding life beyond school.
The Wellbeing Framework supports all NSW public schools to take an approach that acknowledges people’s strengths and supports our students to be strong, confident, achieving contributors to our community. Schools play a very important role in supporting, enhancing and building the wellbeing of all students. Whole school approaches contribute to the growth of the individual and collective wellbeing.
Experiences that develop character by promoting mindfulness (self-regulation and behaviour), curiosity, courage, resilience, ethics and leadership benefit children and young people as they grow and develop. Schools focus on giving children and young people voice, encouraging active learners who develop strong character qualities that will enable them to succeed, thrive and contribute positively throughout life.
The Bayanami Public School team aims to provide a strong foundation in an environment which enables students to connect, succeed and thrive in life and beyond school years. We aim for students to develop resilience and strategies to pursue their talents, interests, and goals as well as to lead a happy and balanced life.
