In Industrial Technology (Multimedia Technologies), students learn about the industrial processes and practices used within the Multimedia industry, as well as developing skills and knowledge through a range of practical projects such as text and graphic design, sound capture and manipulation, video production, special effects, animation and web design.
Both the Preliminary and HSC courses, require students to undertake study in four key areas:

Year 11 Course
Industry Study: (15%)
• Structural, technical, environmental and sociological factors, personnel issues, Workplace Health and Safety
Design (10%)
• Elements and principles, types of design, quality, influences affecting design
Management and Communication (20%)
• Development of practical projects; research, analysis and evaluation; skills in managing a project and developing and presenting a management folio; computer based technologies
Production (40%)
• Display a range of skills through the construction of a number of projects
Industry Manufacturing Technology (15%)
• Understanding of a range of processes, tools and technologies
Year 12 Course
The following sections are taught in relation to the relevant focus area through the development of a Major Project (60%) and a study of the relevant industry:

• Understanding of a range of processes, tools and new and emerging technologies
In the Preliminary year, students will undertake a variety of small individual and group projects, developing their knowledge and skills across audio, video, web, animation; and text and graphics.
In the HSC year, students will undertake a Major Project, focusing on an area of their choosing, where they will further build upon and develop their skills from year 11 studies. Students are assessed on their skills and abilities in production, as well as project management, design and communication, with the Major Project contributing 60% towards their final HSC results for this subject.
This course is suited to students who are interested in or have a passion for multimedia. Students in this course will examine various roles within industry, including animators, video producers, foley audio artists and game developers. No prior experience in Multimedia is required to undertake study within this course.
