Mathematics Core and Paths Is the most challenging and abstract of the three levels offered and builds on the content contained within the Stage 5.2 Course. It caters for students with a strong capacity and or a passion for Mathematics and who wish to continue their study of this subject in Years 11 and 12 (Stage 6). Core content: Financial Mathematics, Algebraic Techniques, Indices, Equations, Linear relationships, Trigonometry, Area, Surface Area, Volume, Data analysis and Probability.
Path content: Harder aspects of the core content plus: Rates of change, Surds, polynomials, non-right Trigonometry, Circle Geometry

Engaging with Core and Paths provides the basis of understanding for the Mathematics Advanced Course which can lead to careers in oceanography, engineering, medical science, meteorology, computing, information technology, financial sector, insurance and investment, environmental modelling, government, education or research.
Note: There is no field of scientific inquiry that does not express itself through the language of mathematics and as such, the study of Mathematics complements many future career paths.
Core and Paths is required for students aiming to study Mathematics Advanced in Years 11 and 12.
